As is part of Apple’s regular process, the newest model of iPad could not keep up with demand. When the fourth-generation tablet launched, it had a one-week shipping estimate. A few days ago, Apple updated shipping estimates to 3-5 days. Today, 9to5Mac is reporting that the Retina display iPad is in stock and ready to ship to your door immediately.
This either means that Apple has finally gotten on top of the supply issues that it has experienced in the past, or the iPad maker overestimated interest in the new device. Apple recently announced that the launch weekend of both the fourth-generation iPad and the mini produced 3 million units sold. This information did not include how many of each device were sold. The iPad mini still shows a two-week shipping date.
Reviews of the smaller tablet rave about how lightweight and easy to hold it is. Reviews of the fourth-generation iPad mentioned that people who already have a third-generation iPad aren’t missing out on much.
This stark contrast in tech reviews may be leading consumers to either wait another year until their tablet really is “too old,” or buy the cheaper, smaller tablet instead.
