We know you were grumbling on the inside about Apple changing to the Lightning Connector on the iPhone 5, even as you explained to your Android-loving friends how much better the new cable was going to be. It’s smaller!
Having to shell out $29 for the Apple adapter just to keep your old docking stations and gadgets connecting with your new iPhone probably didn’t make you feel any better, and it certainly didn’t make your arguments any more compelling. Let’s be honest; repeating Apple excutive Phil Schiller’s statement that “It’s time for the connector to evolve” wasn’t really getting you anywhere, anyway.
Well, have no fear: according to 9to5Mac, third-party manufacturer Nanotch is already taking pre-orders on Amazon for adapters that undercut Cupertino on price. For only $17.95, you can get a 30-pin to Lightning adapter that even includes a 20cm cord.
Or, maybe have some fear, as we’re not sure we would trust our shiny new iPhone 5 with a third-party charging adapter just to save $12. But if you just can’t let go of that old docking station, and two cups of cups of coffee is worth risking the best thing to happen to the iPhone since the iPhone, have at it.
We’ll probably pass on this one.
