Rumor of the Day: New Images of 5th-Gen iPad Start to Appear

With all of Apple’s recent activities – a refreshed iPad with faster processor, a 128 GB model with no warning, an iPad mini after claiming it will never happen – it is hard to decipher what is rumor and what is reality these days. Apple blog 9to5Mac recently produced images of what may be the back casing of the next generation iPad. Who knows, Apple may even launch it as early as March. We can’t put anything past them now.

According to 9to5Mac, an unnamed China-based iPad accessory maker sent “unverified” images of what is believed to be the back plate for the next generation iPad.

The case appears to be exactly like the iPad mini’s, only bigger. According to 9to5Mac, the casing is “almost as thin as the iPad mini’s back.” It has all of the same ports that are familiar to the iPad mini design. The images are of a casing that features Wi-Fi + Cellular as the antenna cutout shows.

Rumors have been floating around that Apple plans to launch the fifth-generation iPad alongside an iPad mini with Retina display, and even a cheaper iPhone, this March. However, past experience says that we would be seeing more leaked images if Apple was ready to launch the new tablet in less than two months.

Although, in light of today’s 128GB iPad announcement, there is no telling what Apple has up its sleeve. We just have to wait and see. No one is an experienced speculator anymore.
