There’s no denying that Ms. Splosion Man – a port of the 2011 console original – is an incredibly well-designed platformer. As the titular explosion-powered science experiment/babbling frog-faced nincompoop, you’ll run, ‘splode, and sweat your way through 50 lengthy side-scrolling levels populated with cartoony, possibly diabolical scientists in serious need of ‘sploding. Really, though, it’s the levels themselves that are your biggest concern; each one is filled with inventively demanding puzzles, and while your input is limited to moving and ‘sploding (which not only blows up obstacles and enemies, but can launch Ms. Splosion Man into the air three times in succession), the game does enough with that to keep you continually guessing and finding new solutions to problems, often with little time to think.
