Once the latest iPhone is on the shelves, the new one is never far behind. Come may, parts for the next generation iPhone (the iPhone 5S) will start shipping, and likely be available in the third quarter.
Similar to the transition from the iPhone 4 to the iPhone 4S, the newest iPhone won’t have much of a major upgrade, and likely just be a little more enhanced. The rumours spreading indicate that Apple plans to release an iPhone model using plastic chassis in order to push and promote its global smartphone market share.
The newest version is expected to feature a higher-end processor — even better than the one it currently houses. The iPhone 5 has an A6 chip, and is admittedly impressive. About twice as fast as the A5 chip, it loads everything quickly and efficiently, making you wonder how the previous versions could even be classified as slow. It also has a substantial battery life, allowing users up to 8 hours of browsing on a cellular connection, with 8 hours of talk time, and 10 hours of video/music playback. We are looking forward to seeing how Apple plans to one up this (or, in the case of the iPhone 4S to the iPhone 5, double it) for the latest model.
The new iPhone 5S is also expected to feature a higher megapixel camera. This, of course, is exciting within itself, considering the iPhone 5 boasted some amazing features with its new camera.. and the iPhone 4S, too, was such a step above. With the current and latest iPhone featuring the panorama photo feature up to 28 megapixels, awesome low light features, 1080p HD video with the iSight camera, and improved back and front cameras, the newer version will likely include some improvement, but not an exponential amount compared to previous versions.
Other rumours have purported that the newest iPhone’s home button will include a longer cable, which would be routed differently through the iPhone’s body. Apple has also previous indicated that they might be adding a fingerprint sensor within the home button, or possibly on the home button, which would minimize theft and cracking any passwords.
We are also hearing that both the iPhone 5S and the newest iPad 5 will be launched on June 28th, 2013. Paying homage to the 6th year anniversary for the unveiling of the original iPhone, they should be ready to go mid-year… and are notably the first two devices that have been developed entirely under the reigns of Apple’s CEO Tim Cook.
