In case you didn’t already know, today is Earth Day. The environmentally conscience holiday has been a national holiday since the 1970s. Another, lesser-known holiday takes place around the same time every year. National Parks Week takes place every spring and this year, it takes place April 20 – 28. In celebration of the holiday, Chimani has made their entire line of National Parks apps free.
In addition to going free, Chimani will launch a new National Park guide every day this week. The company has already released new apps for Olympic, Sequoia-Kings Canyon, Grand Teton, and more. A new feature has also been added; Viewport. This augmented reality tool lets you pan around the scenery and identify points of interest. Viewport will be available as an in-app purchase for $1.99.
Each Chimani guide features detailed maps based on data from Open Street Maps, which includes the most up-to-date information available for National parks. The guides also include scheduled events listings, hiking information, news, transportation, weather, camping and lodging, and a photo gallery.
Download the Chimani National Parks app, or one of the park-specific apps to find one near you. Be sure to visit a park sometime this week in honor of National Parks Week.
