Line 6 has a nice little device that makes it possible for you to connect your guitar to your iPad. Not only that, but the same device lets you connect another instrument and play it all through external speakers. The Sonic Port is an all-in-one connector to let your guitar and iPad work seamlessly together.
“Sonic Port provides an easy way for guitarists to make studio-quality music on their iOS devices,” said Max Gutnik, Vice President of Product Management, Line 6. “Customers can pair it with CoreAudio apps to record, practice, perform and more. For example, the free Line 6 Mobile POD app lets guitarists dial in their favorite artists’ tones in an instant, while the Jammit app is perfect for practicing. All in all, Sonic Port brings amazing audio quality and a great music-making experience to iOS devices.”
Line 6’s Sonic Port lets you connect your guitar or bass to your iPad with a 1/4-inch guitar input. It also features a 1/8-inch stereo line-in input so you can connect audio devices like keyboards, a mixer, or a CD player. The 1/8-inch headphone jack lets you connect the two devices to headphones, or you could plug into the 1/4-inch jack for stereo input.
All of this is powered through your iPad, so the Sonic Port does not require its own power source. You don’t need batteries or a charging cable. Just make sure your iPad has enough juice to get you through the setlist.
The Sonic Port works in conjunction with CoreAudio music apps like GarageBand, Mobile POD, and more.
You can purchase the iOS connector from your local music shop for $99.95. Visit Line 6 for a retailer near you.
