If you’re looking to grab some great apps for your iPad, today may be your lucky day. Some of the top iOS app developers have dropped their app’s prices to celebrate the 5th anniversary of Apple’s App Store.
It’s unclear if this is an impromptu sale from developers or if it’s being coordinated by Apple as part of a larger App Store celebration week. Either way, hit apps like Infinity Blade II, BADLAND, Where’s My Water?, Traktor DJ, Tiny Wings HD, and Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP have all dropped their prices to free for the first time ever.
It’s uncertain how long the sales will last so it’s a good idea to grab them while you can and check back often to find what other apps have gone on sale during this special App Store’s 5th anniversary week.
The App Store launched on July 10, 2008 which was almost a year after the successful launch of the iPhone. The App Store was an upgraded iTunes feature that was introduced with the launch of iOS 2 on the iPhone 3G and ushered in a rush to develop for the hit mobile platform.
The Apple App Store has set the bar for app stores with over 50 billion apps downloaded and 900,000+ app available for iPhone and iPad owners. Apple has paid iOS developers over $10 billion in the past four years.
