Square Adds New iPad Features to Popular Payment App

Square, the company that has turned the small business industry into an iOS compatible point-of-sale powerhouse has just updated its Square Register app with a few more features to make mobile payments more convenient than ever.

Yesterday, the company updated the Square Register app to allow tracking for additional types of payments. Business owners can now record and track checks, gift cards, and more using the iPhone and iPad app. Gift cards can be a tricky payment option for small businesses because they are not part of daily average payments. The ability to track gift cards will make it much easier for employees to reconcile their monies at the end of the day.

Speaking of reconciling, another update in version 3.2 for the iPad is that you can now reconcile your cash drawer with cash management. When you enable the cash management feature, you will be able to enter a starting dollar amount for the cash drawer and select whether or not to send or print shift reports.

Enabling a cash drawer session will allow employees to see cash sales, refunds, any money paid in or out, and the expected dollar amount of the drawer.

In addition to gift card tracking and cash drawer reconciliation, Square Register has been updated for compatibility with the portable SM- S220i printer, so you can wirelessly print receipts from the iPad.

With these added features, Square is proving, once again, that mobile POS is not only possible, but also easier for small businesses than ever before.

Square Register is free to download, but requires a business account with Square. Download it in the App Store today.
