Mutant League Football Coming to iOS With Your Help

Mutant League Football

Some of you may remember a funny little sports game from the early 1990s called Mutant League Football on Sega Genesis. Although the game played similar to Madden, it looked like the players had all been dipped in radiation. The game’s original creator just recently launched a Kickstarter campaign to fund a completely new version of the game for a variety of platforms, one of them being iOS.

Mutant Football League (the name change is due to an inability to regain the rights to the original from EA Games) will be the “most violent game ever played in this hilarious and brutal parody of professional Football.” It features strategy, creature customization, and the disgusting humor that you remember from years gone by.

According to the Kickstarter campaign, this will not be a port of the original, but a reimagining for the 21st century. Players will be able to compete in a single game, play-offs, or the full season. Play alone or go head-to-head against others through Game Center.

As it was in the original, players will be tasked with playing a great game of football, plus trying to keep their team alive while taking down enemies like a linebacker should.

The game is so early in its development that Kickstarter pledges include the ability to help design the game. You’ll be able to give your input into what monsters, weapons, and obstacles should be included. Plus, you can vote on key design and marketing decisions like names, dirty trick plays, and what characters look like.

In addition to the game’s original creator, Michal Mendheim, the cast of development characters include Rombomodo, Jay Lender, Dave Elliot, and more. For the minimum $15 pledge, you’ll get the full game on iOS, plus have your name added to the Mutant Football League newsletter and be listed in the game credit’s thank yous.

You could also help the game out by pledging $10,000 to be a part of the launch party. Plus you’ll be able to take part in designing and naming your very own Dirty Trick and in-game stadium. If that isn’t enough, you’ll get a cool Hall of Fame Jersey and an Associate Produce game credit.

Check out the Kickstarter campaign for Mutant Football league and pledge your love before it ends.
