Snailboy is the Latest Superhero to Join the App Race

Snailboy

Why are snails so intriguing? This summer there were several animated films which starred snails and they did fairly well at the box office. These little creatures are mysterious, funny, and now they are using their physical abilities in the fight for good.

The first thing I noticed about Snailboy is that it is beautiful, both visually and as an auditory experience. The controls are well explained and tied into the backstory of the snail who lost his shell. The goal is to find the perfect shell, but the at core of the game is an adventure filled with puzzles.

Features:

Sling, Slap, Slide and Stick
Collect Slimey’s in every level and bonus levels
These Slimey’s can buy lives
Find Shells
Unlock Jump Boost
Bonus Levels for free slimey’s
Purchase Awesome Skins
Earn Game Centre Achievements
Master Game Play

In spite of being a really interesting game filled with inspiring visuals and interesting gameplay, there are still a few things that leave room for improvement. Load times are pretty slow, which I expected considering the quality of the visuals. Sometimes the game would glitch a little when dialogs asked for clicks or every once in a while when trying to control the snail. The game isn’t even listed as 1.0 version yet and so I assume that some things will improve quickly over time.

The snail gets to jump and aiming works kind of like controlling the birds in Angry Birds and you also get to push the poor guy around. I love the concept and feel there is a lot of potential. It’s hard to say if it will be a popular game but since it has the right amount of familiarity in the gameplay and a great amount of style, you will likely enjoy it.
