The iPhone 5s and 5c had an astonishingly successful launch, but that hasn’t stopped some critics such as Catherine Rampell of the New York Times to make dramatic claims about their perceived lack of repairability. As Cult of Mac points out, however, the iPhone 5s and 5c are actually “super repairable,” but only if you bring them into your local Genius Bar.

The evidence comes in the form of a series of official iPhone 5s and 5c repair videos leaked by a “tipster” at a Genius Bar that demonstrate just how easy Apple wants the repair process to be. There are 12 training videos in all that demonstrate the use of specialized repair tools, several of which include guides outlining how to switch out speakers, receivers, vibration motors, the iSight camera module, the SIM card, and the battery.
Cult of Mac notes that existing self-repair guides such as you find on iFixit tell users to use suction cups to lift the iPhone 5c’s screen, but Apple itself developed a repair tray for the device that lets Genius Bar employees quickly open and swap components without damaging the flex cable for the display. Shown, too, is an “iPhone Battery Fixture” that applies the correct amount of pressure for a battery and fresh adhesive tabs.
