Red Cross Donations Now Accepted via iTunes for Philippine Typhoon Relief

As it’s done with similar disasters in the past, Apple is now making it easy to donate to the Philippine typhoon relief efforts of the American Red Cross just by clicking a button in iTunes.

Apple is now accepting American Red Cross donations between $5 and $200 right from iTunes, which are being used in the Philippines as part of the relief efforts in the wake of the recent typhoon there.

“iTunes will transfer 100 percent of your donation to the American Red Cross,” the iTunes landing page reads, while noting that existing iTunes Store credit cannot be used to make a donation, and that donations made via iTunes “may not qualify” for tax deductions.

Available in donations of $5, $10, $25, $50, $100 or $200, the iTunes initiative is aimed at more than 500 million account holders who can contribute with only a click.

In the past, Apple has teamed with the American Red Cross for relief efforts including Superstorm Sandy in October 2012, the Japanese tsunami in March 2011 and the earthquakes in Haiti back in January 2010.
