At Last, Gifting Options Come to iBookstore

After what feels like forever, Apple is finally giving us the chance to send books as gifts from the iBookstore. As Macworld notes, the book section is the one spot in the iTunes store where users couldn’t send gifts to their loved ones, as the feature could be find in the neighboring sections for music, movies, and television programs.

The ability to send digital items as gifts first appeared on the iTunes store back in 2010, and the new option for books follows much the same design as for the other offerings. You can send the books immediately, for instance, or you can schedule it for a particular occasion such as a birthday or Christmas day. (Macworld notes that there’s a trick to this for iPhone and iPad users: “One note: On iOS, it looks like you have to tap the ‘Today’ field under ‘Send Gift’ in order to change to a different date.”)

As the screenshot above demonstrates, you’ll even be able to include messages for the recipient.

Unfortunately, there’s a catch–you can only send books to users from the same country as you (and thus who use the same localized version of the iTunes store).
