Disney’s ‘Movies Anywhere’ Brings a Library of 420 Films to your iPad

Disney Movies Anywhere 1I think one could call me a Disney fan. I grew up less than sixty miles from the theme park and visited Disneyland for the firs time when I was only 6 months old. I grew up watching VHS tapes of the earliest animated films and the Disney Channel was my babysitter for much of my afterschool activities. I own every animated feature film the company made until 1985 (except for three very hard to find movies from the mid 1940s). Disney has just announced a digital movie service and app for the iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch that will make it possible for fans like me to watch more than 400 of the company’s titles.

The Disney Movies Anywhere (DMA) app can be downloaded for free in the App Store today. Users must log in or create a Disney Account with an email address and password. Then, you can link DMA to your iTunes account and receive a copy of “The Incredibles” for free.

“Disney Movies Anywhere offers an exceptional consumer experience built around some of the most beloved and popular entertainment brands in the world,” said Alan Bergman, President, The Walt Disney Studios. “This unique technology underscores Disney’s commitment to meeting our consumers where they are with the content they want, and we’re thrilled to debut with iTunes, the #1 digital media retailer in the world.”

Disney Movies Anywhere 2The app offers a massive selection of Disney titles listed by featured titles, movies based on categories, like Action and Adventure or Disney Princesses. You can browse titles and buy or rent them through iTunes

Under the “My Collection” tab, you will find your free copy of The Incredibles and any other movies you’ve purchased. You can download titles right into the app for offline viewing.

You will also find a collection of clips, shorts, and even Karaoke for some of Disney’s beloved classic songs, like The Little Mermaid’s “Poor Unfortunate Souls.”

“Disney Movies Anywhere is an adaptable digital ecosystem designed to help consumers consolidate their Disney movie collections and enjoy them for years to come,” said Jamie Voris, Chief Technology Officer, The Walt Disney Studios. “The beauty of this technology is that it enables us to work with iTunes and future provider partners to ensure movie lovers have streamlined access to all of their favorite Disney titles no matter which device they are on. The intuitive layout of the website and app creates an easy and enjoyable browsing environment for the whole family.”

There are even more ways to get Disney movies onto your iPad. You can also redeem download codes for DVD and Blu-ray movies you already own for Disney, Pixar, and Marvel films from within the app. Digital copies previously redeemed on iTunes will automatically be active in the app and on iTunes after the user logs in and connects their Disney and iTunes accounts.

Download the DMA App on your iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch for free and find your favorite Disney Movies in one convenient location.
