Mad Catz Unveils iPad Friendly MFi iOS Game Controller

Mad Catz iOS 7 Controller 1As iOS 7 game controllers are slowly creeping into the market, it is still rare to see one fit for the iPad. So far, the only one we’ve come across has been the SteelSeries Stratus. Today, console accessory maker Mad Catz unveiled their new iOS 7 MFi controller at this year’s Mobile World Congress. Although it has a special mount for the iPhone, the controller is Bluetooth connected and compatible with the iPad.

According to Engadget, Mad Catz was sporting the new C.T.R.L.i game controller at Mobile World Congress and even had a moment to try it out. The controller is still in its protoype stage. However, the video shows it working seamlessly with the iPhone, so it should be ready for its scheduled April launch.

Mad Catz iOS 7 Controller 2Based on the video that Engadget took, this controller is more akin to traditional game pads in size. It features left and right hand grips, dual stick controllers, left and right shoulder buttons, a D-pad, and four action buttons.

The controller is actually similarly designed to the company’s current Android compatible game pad alongside the M.O.J.O. Android Gaming Console.

Mad Catz iOS 7 Controller 3It also comes with an adjustable mount so you can have your iPhone or iPod touch right on top of the controller. However, if you prefer to play games on your iPhone with the C.T.R.L.i, you can remove the mount with one simple screw.

The controller will be priced at around $80 and will be ready to ship by April of this year. It will launch in black, but will later be made available in white, blue, orange, and red.

Visit the company’s website to find out more about the official launch and pricing of the C.T.R.L.i for iOS 7.
