It is that time of the year. A time when rumors start to ramp up as we get closer to the traditional fall launch of new Apple products. Throughout the past eight months, we’ve heard rumors of a larger iPad tablet, a 4K display, and the missing Touch ID. As the fall launch approaches, purported image leaks are popping up more and more.

This week, Apple.Club.TW has posted one image that is supposedly a picture of the next generation of iPhone, iPad Air, and iPad mini. While not a whole lot is shown in the picture, it is important to note that the iPad Air 2 and iPad mini 3 appears to be outfitted with Touch ID.

For some time now, it has been rumored that Touch ID was coming to iPad Air and iPad mini. Not just claims from suppliers, but market analysts are also predicting the security feature will find its way onto the next generation of Apple tablets.

It makes sense for Apple to add the feature to future models. It was strange that Touch ID wasn’t included with the first-generation iPad Air or iPad mini with Retina display. The latest tablet models launched after the iPhone 5s, which does include the feature. While there hasn’t been much speculation as to why it wasn’t included, there is a lot of speculation as to when it will be added.

With the upcoming additions to iOS 8, Apple will make Touch ID available to third party developers so they can add the feature as part of a security measure to access apps.

The next generation iPad Air and iPad mini are expected to launch later this fall, as the company traditionally holds an iPhone event in mid September and an iPad event in late October.
