Last week, Re/code made claims that Apple would be unveiling a new device, likely the iWatch, which would support both HealthKit and HomeKit functionality at next week’s media event on Sept. 9. Rumors and speculations have been buzzing around our heads for months as to what we can expect from Apple. Finally getting to see the product would be a huge burden lifted from our minds.
Unfortunately, new rumors have surfaced that Apple won’t be ready to unveil the iWatch until sometime in 2015 because the device is still in the engineering verification testing stages.
According to DigiTimes, unnamed sources are claiming that the supposed iWatch still has to go through production verification testing, which means it is not even read for mass production. Apple may still make design changes during the testing stages. The sources say that Apple hasn’t even begun ordering component parts.
Re/code’s history with rumor information is much more reliable than DigiTimes. The tech news site correctly predicted that Amazon would launch a set-top box in the first quarter of 2014, Apple was going to buy Swell for $30 million, and would hold a media event this Sept. 9.
We only have one week to go to find out who is right with regards to the iWatch. My bet is on Re/code.
