It seems like Apple has pulled the Apple Store site down earlier than normal for the media event today. We are past the point where it is obvious that there are going to be new products today, but the store coming down is certainly the final proof that things are coming.
The Apple Store has changed over the years as online capabilities have melded with brick and mortar offerings. It’s also important not to get the Apple Store confused with the App Store, which is still up and running as usual.
The physical Apple Stores need time to adjust for new products which are likely to available today and many stores have lines that have been in place for days. The online Apple Store is what I referred to as being down, which also ties into the Apple Store app. When you visit either place it says:
“We’ll be back. We’re busy updating the Apple Store for you and will be back soon.”
The message rotates through translations of the message in various languages, which is interesting given that the Apple Store has a different destination for each country. This is more of a message reminding us of the international presence of Apple, which is becoming more spread out with each passing year.
