Eufy SmartTrack Card review: specs, performance, price

Eufy SmartTrack Card review: Card resting on top of wallet

The Eufy SmartTrack Card lets you track your wallet by being the same size as a credit card and utilizing the Find My network.

In 2021, Apple introduced the AirTag, which utilizes the Find My network and uses signals from nearby iPhones and iPads to pinpoint its location. It’s great to attach to backpacks and keys, but it’s too bulky to use with an ordinary wallet.

You could get an AirTag-compatible wallet, but that’s an additional cost on top of the AirTag itself. There’s also the Wallet with MagSafe, but its space is limited and only tells you the location of when it was last attached to your iPhone.

The Eufy SmartTrack Card avoids these issues by being thinner than an AirTag while offering nearly all the same features that make it great.

Eufy SmartTrack Card — A similar size

Unlike an AirTag that is too bulky for a wallet, the Eufy SmartTrack Card is thin enough not to weigh it down.

Measuring 3.31 x 2.17 x .09 inches and weighing .64 ounces, the SmartTrack card is the same size and weight as a regular credit card. It’s even lighter than the Apple Card.

Due to its simplistic design, the SmartTrack Card looks like an ordinary credit card and doesn’t stick out like a sore thumb from the others in your wallet.

On the front is a button used to connect the card to the Eufy app. Beneath it is a speaker that’ll beep when you are trying to locate the card.

The card’s lithium battery, which will last up to three years, is under the company’s engraved name. However, the battery is not rechargeable or detachable. Once it runs out, you’ll have to buy another SmartTrack Card.

A QR code on the back allows others to see information about the card. Unlike the AirTag, which can do so through NFC, the person must scan the QR code to see the information.

For the QR code to work, you must turn on Lost Mode within the Eufy app and fill in all the required information. Once the code is scanned, the information will be presented within the scanner’s browser.

Eufy SmartTrack Card — App connectivity

The Eufy SmartTrack Card works with both the Find My app and Eufy’s native app. Both offer similar experiences, but you need to set it up in the native app first before being able to use it within the Find My app.

Once added, you can customize and use the card within either app. Although, each one offers unique features that the other does not.

Eufy’s native app

After setting up the SmartTrack Card within the Eufy app, you can customize its name and what item you’re using the card with. There are preset items to choose from, but if the object you want isn’t there, the best option would be “Tracker” since you cannot add additional items.

Within the app, you can see the card’s current battery state and be guided to it via Apple Maps with its last known location. Unlike the Find My app, which uses other Apple devices to identify the card’s location, the native app uses Bluetooth connectivity.

If you fear that the front button will accidentally be pressed when stored away, you can turn on False Press Prevention. This will eliminate accidental sounds and operations caused by unintended button presses. The feature will automatically be enabled 12 hours after adding the card to your device.

One unique feature of the SmartTrack Card is its ability to locate your iPhone if you misplace it. Double pressing the button will notify your iPhone, turn up its volume, and continuously play the song “BINGO” until you dismiss the notification.

The card will also continuously beep until you find your device.

If your family or friends have the Eufy app installed on their device, you can share the card with them so they can either view the device or change its settings.

Apple’s Find My app

The Find My app allows you to use the same essential features, such as locating the card, knowing its battery status, and customizing its details. However, unlike the native app, you can customize its identifying emoji and the item you are using it with.

If you misplace your item, you can have the card play out a sound and get directions to it via Apple Maps. However, unlike with an AirTag, there is no precision finding available.

You can enable Lost Mode if you lose the item the card is tracking. But unlike the Eufy app, you can choose to show just your email or phone number when the item is found.

If you’re running iOS 17, you can share the card with others running the same operating system. Everyone who shares the card will not be notified when it’s near them.

The Find My app will notify you if you leave the SmartTrack Card behind. To eliminate multiple notifications, you can mark locations where you don’t want to be notified if left there.

Eufy SmartTrack Card — A wallet AirTag alternative

The Eufy SmartTrack Card is an excellent addition to your wallet, offering nearly the same functionality as an AirTag without adding bulkiness to your item.

By being the same size as a credit card, the SmartTrack Card is easy to place within your wallet and won’t look out of place amongst your other cards. The built-in speaker is loud enough to be heard even when buried deep inside a bag and behind multiple items.

With it costing the same as an AirTag, the SmartTrack Card is an excellent alternative when wanting to have a way to track your wallet. But while it’s not limited to only tracking wallets, it may not be ideal for monitoring every item you own.

Since it has no punched-out hole incorporated into its design, you cannot clip it onto an item. It does come with an optional adhesive clip, but you’ll be in a tough spot if you want to switch to tracking an item where the clip won’t fit.

Additionally, since you can’t change the battery, you must buy a new SmartTrack Card when it dies. Although the battery can last up to three years, buying another card seems inconvenient, and at least with an AirTag, you can change the battery when running low.

If you want a simple way to ensure your wallet is always with you without adding bulkiness, then the Eufy SmartTrack Card can help you achieve that goal. However, if you are looking for a device to track other items, we suggest purchasing an AirTag with a third-party case.
