Adobe Announces Changes to Acrobat.com Coming in January

Adobe has notified users of its Acrobat.com online service that two changes will be coming on January 10, 2013, both resulting in the loss of features users may have become accustomed to having.

The first change removes Adobe ConnectNow from Acrobat.com entirely, with the company instead pointing users to Adobe Connect for their web conferencing needs.

“Adobe Connect provides advanced web conferencing capabilities that include rich, interactive features for hosting, presenting, and sharing assets directly to virtually any device,” the email notes. “Adobe Connect is available in affordable annual, monthly, and pay-per-use plans for enterprise and individual customers.”

PDF creation tools will also be getting stripped from Acrobat.com on January 10, with Adobe instead pushing users to its CreatePDF service, a paid option with a low monthly price which allows PDF files to be created from a web browser or the reader software.

“With Adobe CreatePDF, you can convert documents and image files to high quality PDF files, combine multiple files into a single PDF, or export existing PDF files to editable Microsoft Word or Excel formats,” Adobe added.
