2013 is winding down (and quickly!), so we can expect to see an awful lot of “best of” lists making the rounds over the next two weeks — and Apple is getting a jump on that tradition with one of its own.
Apple has announced its Best of 2013 list for the year (iTunes Store link), which showcases what Cupertino considers to be the standout music, movies, TV shows, apps, books and podcasts for the last 12 months.
“It’s been an amazing year for storytellers,” the brief message on the iTunes Store reads. “Both Lorde and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis turned to their underdog origins to craft compelling musical narratives. Meanwhile, the film 12 Years a Slave and Bill Bryson’s book One Summer revisit history for new generations.”
The Best of 2013 home page singles out four favorites, including movies Gravity and Despicable Me 2, apps Disney Animated and Duolingo, TV shows Breaking Bad and Scandal and podcasts such as MSNBC Rachel Maddow and The Adam and Dr. Drew Show.
According to MacRumors, the 2013 list includes a few notable firsts, including a Disney app making the list this year and Duolingo being the only language app to ever make the lineup so far.
