Apple jumps 10 places to No.1 Consumer Brand in Japan, displacing Google

Apple is usually at the top of customer satisfaction surveys in the United States, such as taking home its seventh consecutive J.D Power and Associates award for smartphones earlier this month. The same cannot be said for the company among consumers in all countries abroad, but for the first time Apple has ranked No.1 among the top consumer brands in Japan.

According to the annual study commissioned by Nikkei BP Consulting Inc., Apple increased from No.11 on the list of the top 40 brands to No. 1, scoring 90.5 points out of 100 for “total brand power.” The report also indicated the “iPad” and “two other key products” made the top list of brands. Those stats were for a survey of the consumer market, while a similar survey of the business market resulted in Apple coming in second behind Toyota Motor Corp.

The top 10 brands on the list are below. As you can see, Apple was able to knock Google from the top spot:

1. (11) Apple
2. (1) Google
3. (2) Uniqlo

5. (6) Disney
6. (4) McDonalds

Based on a survey of over 52,000 people in November and December of last year, the study included 1,000 brands for the main consumer market survey and 500 brands for the survey of the business market.

Earlier today, we told you Apple’s Tim Cook is now ranked the world’s highest-rated CEO, according to a study from Glassdoor.
