Apple Raises iAd Revenue Share From 60{813a954d5e225a1509f22204ece89c855080ce25555f20805f61bed63cbfde3b} To 70{813a954d5e225a1509f22204ece89c855080ce25555f20805f61bed63cbfde3b} For Developers

Historically, developers have earned 70{813a954d5e225a1509f22204ece89c855080ce25555f20805f61bed63cbfde3b} of the revenue from application downloads from the App Store and 60{813a954d5e225a1509f22204ece89c855080ce25555f20805f61bed63cbfde3b} from iAd revenue, but today comes good news for those of you who use the iAd platform in your apps. Apple has revealed on its Developer Center that developers will now be earning an extra 10{813a954d5e225a1509f22204ece89c855080ce25555f20805f61bed63cbfde3b} from iAd revenue, boosting it to 70{813a954d5e225a1509f22204ece89c855080ce25555f20805f61bed63cbfde3b} in total. Is this Apple’s push to get the advertising service into more apps?

Apple announced:

The revenue share for the iAd network is now 70{813a954d5e225a1509f22204ece89c855080ce25555f20805f61bed63cbfde3b} to the developer.

Perhaps hinting that iAd isn’t seeing the adoption that Apple would like, the company lowered the buy-in for advertisers looking to get into the service a few months ago to $100k from $500k and $1,000,000. Without a large amount of advertisers to advertise within apps, developers can’t make the money they’d like.

With a 10{813a954d5e225a1509f22204ece89c855080ce25555f20805f61bed63cbfde3b} increase, iAd might finally be a good choice for developers to implement into their apps. In 2010, Apple lead in advertising market share, but fell back to third place in 2011, being beat by IDC and Google studies have indicated. With a push to gain more advertisers and developers using the platform, Apple is trying to bring the service back to the top.

Developers, are you using the iAd platform inside of your apps?
