Apple took 25 percent of the total international smartphone marketshare in 2012

With the growing popularity of Samsung many analysts are on purpose ignoring Apple and trying to undermine the company. However the company took 25.1 percent smartphone marketshare globally and had 47{813a954d5e225a1509f22204ece89c855080ce25555f20805f61bed63cbfde3b} growth last year. Estimates say that Apple was the only smartphone maker in 2012 that sustained its place besides Samsung, which gained big in 2012. IDC has reported that Apple’s shipments were 136.8 million iPhones in 2012, which were 93.1 million units in 2011. On 23 January 2013, Apple in its quarterly financial report revealed some statistics according to which the company had total iPhone shipments of 47.8 million in Q1 2013.

IDC further said that 2012 was like a battlefield between iOS and Android (Apple and mainly Samsung). Apple had 25.1{813a954d5e225a1509f22204ece89c855080ce25555f20805f61bed63cbfde3b} smartphone marketshare, whereas Samsung claims number one position with 39.6{813a954d5e225a1509f22204ece89c855080ce25555f20805f61bed63cbfde3b} share worldwide.

On other hand, other smartphone big names, like Nokia, RIM and HTC cloud not make their place in IDC charts of top rated smartphones. Although Huawei with introduction of smartphones with affordable prices for China market had 4.9{813a954d5e225a1509f22204ece89c855080ce25555f20805f61bed63cbfde3b} of global market in Q₄ of 2012. After Huawei, it was Sony in IDC’s list (at 4^th rank), with 4.5{813a954d5e225a1509f22204ece89c855080ce25555f20805f61bed63cbfde3b} of market share. And then ZTE with 4.3{813a954d5e225a1509f22204ece89c855080ce25555f20805f61bed63cbfde3b} of smartphone market share.

The research firm Strategy Analytics also said that in fourth quarter of 2012, Apple’s share was 19.4{813a954d5e225a1509f22204ece89c855080ce25555f20805f61bed63cbfde3b} up, from 19{813a954d5e225a1509f22204ece89c855080ce25555f20805f61bed63cbfde3b} during same time frame in 2011.
