Just in case you forgot, Tuesday’s Apple media event wasn’t just about iOS 7 or the company’s newly-free iWork and iLife mobile apps — there were new iPhones on display as well.
Apple’s Senior Vice President of Worldwide Marketing Phillip W. Schiller hit the stage Tuesday in Cupertino to reveal the company’s new pair of iPhones, which CEO Tim Cook referred to as a departure from the company’s traditional business model.
First up: iPhone 5C, available in a rainbow of colors including blue, white, pink, yellow and green as widely rumored in recent weeks. Schiller explained that the back and sides of the candy-colored handset are made from a single piece with seams or joints to spoil the look.
Powered by an A6 processor and featuring a four-inch Retina Display, the iPhone 5C features a polycarbonate casing with reinforced steel structure that doesn’t compromise on hardware, including a rear-facing 8MP iSight camera, front-facing FaceTime HD and more LTE support than any other smartphone in the world.
The iPhone 5C will be available for preorder staring Friday, Sept. 13 and in stores on Friday, Sept. 20 priced with two-year contract for only $99 (16GB) or $199 (32GB); all-new back cases are also available in a rainbow of colors for $29 each.
