Total War: Shogun 2 coming to the Mac on July 31

Feral Interactive says the historical strategy game Total War: Shogun 2 for Mac will be released via Steam on July 31, with the Mac App Store version scheduled for release in early August.

Developed by Creative Assembly and published by SEGA® for Windows, this is the latest installment in the Total War series to be brought to the Mac by Feral, following Rome, Empire and Napoleon. A premium version of the game will be released simultaneously and include all additional content.

Parliant announces new Mac voice messaging product

Parliant has announced Echoes (http://www.echoes-app.com), a new Mac voice messaging product. It’s different from Skype, FaceTime, and other voice chat applications because it eliminates “dialing” or setting up connections with your recipients.

Echoes puts an icon in your menu bar where you just choose “Announce” (or press a keyboard shortcut), speak your announcement, and press return. Echoes lets you:

Apple reports third quarter fiscal results

Apple has announced the financial results for its fiscal 2014 third quarter that ended June 28. The company posted quarterly revenue of US$37.4 billion and quarterly net profit of $7.7 billion, or $1.28 per diluted share.

These results compare to revenue of $35.3 billion and net profit of $6.9 billion, or $1.07 per diluted share, in the year-ago quarter. Gross margin was 39.4{813a954d5e225a1509f22204ece89c855080ce25555f20805f61bed63cbfde3b} compared to 36.9{813a954d5e225a1509f22204ece89c855080ce25555f20805f61bed63cbfde3b} in the year-ago quarter. mLogic ships mTape backup and archiving solution

mLogic is shipping its mTape backup and archiving solution. The company says it’s the industry’s first LTO-6 tape drive to feature Thunderbolt connectivity and the first tape drive system to receive Thunderbolt certification from Apple and Intel.

It supports LTFS for drag and drop functionality and has two Thunderbolt ports for daisy-chaining. The mTape’s SAS expansion port enables writing to two or more LTO drives simultaneously. It’s compatible with backup/archive software from Archiware, Imagine Products, StorageDNA, YoYotta and others

Feral Interactive says the fairytale platforming game Castle of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse, a re-imagining of the SEGA Genesis/Mega Drive game of the same name, will be released for the Mac on Thursday, July 24.
