Insider Software revs FontAgent Pro to version 6.2

Insider Software (http://www.insidersoftware.com) has announced FontAgent Pro 6.2 for Macintosh, an update to its professional font manager that delivers auto-activation plug-ins for QuarkXPress 10 and Adobe Creative Cloud 2014 applications Photoshop, InDesign, InCopy and Illustrator. 


The new release also supports Insider’s line of font server products, including TeamServer for workgroups, FontAgent Pro Enterprise Server with replicatiofail-over and FontAgent Pro CloudServer.

European Commission slams Apple for in-app purchase policies

The European Commission took Apple to task Friday for failing to firmly commit to stopping inadvertent in-app purchases, particularly those made by children.

While Google has committed to making changes, Apple has not, the Commission said.

“Regrettably, no concrete and immediate solutions have been made by Apple to date to address the concerns,” the Commission said. While Apple has offered proposals to address the problem, it hasn’t made a firm commitment or given timing for implementing them, the Commission said.

Following a large number of complaints about in-app purchases in online games, the Commission joined forces with national authorities to get Google and Apple to change their policies. One of the main worries is the offering of “free” app games by developers who seek to make money through in-app purchases, for instance by selling virtual armor and weaponry.

Adobe announces Camera Raw 8.6 Release Candidate

Adobe has announced the availability of Camera Raw 8.6 Release Candidate on Adobe Labs (http://labs.adobe.com). The release candidate adds bug fixes, lens profiles, and support for new cameras including the recently released Nikon D810.
 
The release candidate also includes improvements for batch processing and color matching profiles for the Sony DSC-RX100 III, Sony A7S, and Sony Alpha SLT-A77 II. Camera Raw 8.6 is available as a free update for Photoshop customers.

Sue Wagner joins Apple’s Board of Directors

Apple has announced that Susan L. Wagner, founding partner and director of BlackRock, has been elected to Apple’s board of directors. Bill Campbell, the board’s longest-serving member, is retiring after 17 years of service.
 
Wagner co-founded BlackRock in 1988 and helped it become one of the world’s most successful asset-management companies, holding a range of leadership positions including vice chairman until mid-2012. She continues to serve on the boards of BlackRock and DSP BlackRock (India), as well as Swiss Re, Wellesley College and Hackley School.
