If your taste in movies and TV shows tends to lean more to the classic end of the spectrum, you’ll want to fire up your computer or Roku box and start your free trial for Warner Archive Instant.
Warner Bros. has announced the public launch of Warner Archive Instant, the studio’s digital vault for rare and hard-to-find movies that can now be streamed directly to subscribers in bulk for only $9.99 per month.
The streaming service includes feature-length and television content from MGM, RKO, Allied Artists and its own Warner Bros. vault, with many titles capable of streaming in 1080p HD on a Roku (Mac and PC viewers will have to be content with SD thanks to the company’s use of Microsoft Silverlight).
Warner Archive Instant covers more than 70 years worth of rare content, with many titles that have never made it to DVD and even fewer that could ever hope to land on Blu-ray — from the 1920’s, all the way up to a handful of lost classics from the 1990’s and everything in-between.
To get a taste for Warner Archive Instant, viewers can sign up for a free two-week trial; after that, it costs $9.99 per month to view as much as you’d like, and members can cancel at any time. The service also promises to add new selections on a regular basis, but no word on an iOS or Android app, which would definitely make the service a keeper.
