Microsoft’s Office for iOS and Android devices is under spotlight once again as screenshots of the Excel app running on an iPhone have appeared on the web. As seen in the first screenshot above, the Office for iOS will be available in the form of separate applications and not as a single download as you might have expected. The apps that will be part of Office for iOS and Android include Word, Excel, and Powerpoint. According to TheVerge’s report the apps will be downloadable for free and will act as companion apps to the original Office suite for PC and Macs. In the free version of the apps users will be able to view their documents stored in the cloud, however in order to edit them they will have to get a paid Office 365 subscription.
General users will be able to buy the Office 365 subscription from within the app whereas organizations will be able to distribute codes among their employees to enable the edit feature. In addition to revealing the information mentioned above TheVerge has re-confirmed that Office for Mobile devices will be released in March 2013. iOS version will debut before the Android version.
