DOJ, USPTO side with Apple, say no sales bans for SEP claims

In a joint statement issued Tuesday, both the US Department of Justice and the US Patent and Trademark Office have issued a new policy that argues that sales bans on products that may or may not infringe on “standards-essential” patents (SEPs) should not be allowed except in very rare and specific circumstances.
