Although the average Jane or Joe rarely needs to snap a shot of their computer screen, for bloggers, website creators and developers, it’s a godsend — which is probably why the folks at Dropbox have made saving them automatic.
Dropbox announced Monday that version 2.4 of its Mac software now allows users to not only save screenshots to their cloud storage account automatically, but also import photos directly from iPhoto as well.
“Starting today, all the screenshots you take can automatically be saved straight to your Dropbox,” the blog post explains. “And on top of that, Dropbox will also create a link to your screenshot and copy it to your clipboard — so your picture’s instantly good to share. Whether you’re capturing screenshots of websites, favorite dog videos, or video calls with your buddy in São Paulo, now Dropbox can help keep your computer a little more organized.”
Likewise, the photo import tool included with Dropbox 2.4 is now capable of pulling images out of your iPhoto application and copying them straight to the Dropbox cloud, yet another big step for the company’s mobile photo ambitions.
Dropbox for Mac 2.4 is available as a free download from the company’s website, and should automatically update for users who have a previous version already installed.
