Fender Releases $200 USB Guitar, Compatible with iOS

If you have already visited Apple’s online gift guide, which we told you about earlier today, you may have noticed a fun “gadget” for the iPad that will make the rock star in you break into an air guitar stance. One of the Apple store exclusives this year includes the Squier by Fender USB Stratocaster Guitar.

This iOS-compatible guitar features a mini USB dock and two connector cables, one for your USB-compatible computer, and one for your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch. That’s right, it is a full-sized guitar that you can plug directly into your iPad. Currently, this guitar comes with a mini USB to 30-pin connector cable, not the Lightning connector, but if you haven’t already purchased your 30-pin adaptor, you can add that to your holiday wish list, too.

In addition to the digital connector, the Squier USB Strat includes a traditional 1/4-inch jack so you can plug your guitar directly into an amplifier. This makes it easy to switch between home recording and stage performance without extra steps.

There is also an 1/8-inch stereo jack, right in the guitar, so you can listen to the signal directly from the guitar, instead of having to sit close to your iPad while you rock out. I like to stand up when I play guitar, so I like the idea of being able to roam around. If you don’t have a pair of Bluetooth headphones, this will free up your movement.

The Squier by Fender USB Stratocaster Guitar can be purchased from Apple’s online store for only $199.95 and it includes free shipping.
