Find My Facebook Friends app for iOS is ‘Find My Friends’ for Facebook

A new app called Find My Facebook Friends has become available in the App Store that allows users to locate their Facebook friends on the map. The app works almost like Apple’s own Find My Friends service (app) and not only lets users to locate their friends on map, but also notifies them when one of their Facebook friends is nearby. Find My Facebook Friends is so similar to Apple’s own Find My Friends app that it got rejected twice before getting approval from the boys in Cupertino. Though the reason of its rejection was not it’s functional similarties with Apple’s own app but it’s previously proposed icon and name, that were so similar to Find My Friends service that it could have caused confusion among users. Developers of this app submitted their app with the name “Find My Friends For Facebook” first, but the app got rejected.

How this app works is pretty simple, when you sign in to your Facebook account using Find My Facebook Friends app, you can invite your Facebook buddies to join you by sending them app requests. Once your friends install Find My Facebook Friends app on their iOS device, you will then be able to see their location on a list or on a map. The app allows users to disallow their specific friends from knowing their location and tell the app to never or always share their location with specific friends.

Features of this app include:

Easily locate Facebook friends and family.
Friend proximity alerts.
Privacy settings based on friend lists and individual friends.
Manage your Facebook friend lists.
Integrates with the native Facebook app to send messages.
Supports multiple devices.
Keeps running in the background after you quit. Note: Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life.

Find My Facebook Friends is a universal app and is available for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch running iOS 4.0 or above. You can download it for $0.99 from the App Store. [via]
