Gameloft and Marvel Announce Spider-Man Unlimited, the First 3D Web-Runner for Smartphones & Tablets

Spider-Man

E3 is getting underway and if you are able to attend then you should check out Gamloft’s booth 5522 in the West Hall to see a preview of the up and coming Spider-Man Unlimited. The introduction trailer on YouTube (see below) looks amazing and I personally think this game has the potential to single handedly reshape the face of mobile runner games.

I have played all of the iOS Spider-Man games released so far, and while all of them are interesting, none of them have excited me as much as this upcoming release. It’s being called the first web-runner inspired by 50 years of Spider-Man comics, and it is clear that this game is all about bringing us many of the different Spider-Man variations.

“Gameloft is once again honored to be working with the timeless super-hero universes created by Marvel,” says Karine Kaiser, VP Marketing & Licensing at Gameloft. “With Spider-Man Unlimited, players can expect a faithful recreation of the Spider-Man comics through an incredible narrative runner experience.”

You are going to be able to collect over 23 different Spider-Man characters, which include such classics as Iron Spider-Man, Future Foundation Spider-Man, and Spider-Man Noir as you face off against villains such as the Green Goblin, Electro, and Vulture.

“Gameloft has done a great job of creating a true to character Spider-Man experience for mobile gamers,” says Javon Frazier, VP of Games Marketing, Marvel. “Fans of all ages will enjoy the endless action of running, swinging and fighting through villains across New York City.”

When can we expect an official release? Gameloft has posted a tentative date of early September for a release across iOS, Android, and Windows Phone platforms. Once it is out we’ll post a full review here for your reading pleasure.
