Hipstamatic’s Oggl Finally available on iPad, Stream Slideshows on Apple TV

Oggl 1Almost a year ago, Hipstamatic launched its own social networking site to compete with Instagram. What makes Oggl different is that it allows users to curate themed photo shoots and asks that contributors use their creative minds to make inspirational images instead of just snapshots of drunk friends at parties.

Until last week, Oggl was only available on the iPhone. With version 2.1, not only can you finally use the app on the iPad, but Oggle now features “SurfMode,” which lets you view slideshows and stream to Apple TV.

Oggl 15The app is mostly a social service where users can take awesome real-time pictures, add iconic and popular Hipstamatic filters, and share them with others. You can share them with Oggle, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Tumblr, Foursquare, and Flickr. You cannot set your images to private, so keep that in mind when taking pictures.

Oggle members can subscribe for $2.99 for three months or $9.99 for one year for full access to every single Hipstamatic filter, including new lenses and films each month

Oggl 14In addition to creating interesting visual images to share with “Ogglrs,” you can see what others are publishing and add favorite photographers to your collection. You can also view a playlist of currated photographs from others. See interesting images of Sochi, Russia, Editor’s Picks, specific profiles, and photos by tags.

The update allows users to enter into SurfMode, which automatically starts a slideshow of the feed you are viewing. All you have to do is turn your device to landscape mode to activate SurfMode. While in SurfMode, tap the AirPlay icon in the sidebar to stream the feed to Apple TV.

Oggl 16New features of the app include:

Oggl now runs beautifully on iPad

New SurfMode – turn your device sideways when viewing a feed to see it presented as a slide show

SurfMode on Airplay – present any feed on Oggl to your Apple TV and have a live photo feed for any event or occasion

New Notifications Ticker showing details about how many likes, reposts, etc. your photos get (including information from Instagram, Facebook, Flickr, and more)

Improved gear shopping experience, with better previews and suggested Favorite combos

See a live preview when selecting a favorite to shoot with, or when editing your photo and browsing your presets

Improved feed browsing experience, with quicker access to more information about photos

Fixes a bug causing login problems with Tumblr and Foursquare

Other bug fixes, user interface enhancements, and performance improvements

Oggle is available on the iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch for free. Download it in the App Store today.
