Apache is still included in Mountain Lion, but Apple has removed Web Sharing from the Sharing menu in System Preferences. Although there is still ways to enable it using Terminal, Tyler Hall has come up with a much easer solution. Hall created his own Preference Pane application that lets you manage Apache just like you could before Mountain Lion, and he’s released it for free on his blog.
Because of VirtualHostX, I happen to have all the code necessary to manage Apache on OS X. That includes turning the server on and off. So here’s a replacement System Preferences pane you can install that lets you manage Apache just like before. Enjoy.
