Apple is reportedly going to release iOS 6.1.2 for iOS devices around February 20th. The update will bring bug fixes that have emerged in the past few days. According to the German site iFun, Apple will release iOS 6.1.2 for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch to fix the lockscreen vulnerability issue that allows access to user’s private data on iPhone even when the device is passcode protected as well as fix the bug occurring in Microsoft Exchange.
iFun performed a check with carriers about the release of iOS 6.1.2 and gave a release date of February 20th or 21st. While the bugs will be fixed in this upcoming update, iFun reports that the enhancements for Maps.app targeted towards Japan, which were released in iOS 6.1.1 beta 1 won’t be included in iOS 6.1.2 update. According to the site they will be included in iOS 6.1.3, which will get released in the coming weeks.
The report by iFun claiming iOS 6.1.2 release has some serious weight as Apple has already acknowledged the two bugs in iOS 6.1 and has promised users with a fix. We recently reported about Apple’s response to the exchange bug. Also, recently AllThingsD also published Apple’s official statement over the passcode vulnerability in iPhones.
Reached for comment, Apple said it is hard at work on a fix. “Apple takes user security very seriously” spokeswoman Trudy Muller told AllThingsD. “We are aware of this issue, and will deliver a fix in a future software update.”
