iPhone 5 Pre-orders Hit 2 Million in 24 Hours, Sets New Record

It’s no surprise: this is the phone we’ve been waiting for. Apple confirmed this morning that pre-orders of the upcoming iPhone 5 reached 2 million in just 24 hours. That number pushes the iPhone 4S pre-orders out of the top slot by nearly double. Apple also mentioned that some customers will be left behind as demand for the device is exceeding the supply.

Phil Schiller also had a bit to say about the iPhone 5 pre-orders in Apple’s latest press release:

“iPhone 5 pre-orders have shattered the previous record held by iPhone 4S and the customer response to iPhone 5 has been phenomenal,” said Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing. “iPhone 5 is the best iPhone yet, the most beautiful product we’ve ever made, and we hope customers love it as much as we do.”

Also, if you were one of the lucky few million that were able to hold down a unit, you might want to also try tracking your package. Some customers have reportedly gotten notice that their iPhone 5 is making its way across the ocean.

So, have you pre-ordered your phone?
