I use my MacBook Pro with its lid closed so often, I almost forget it has its own screen and keyboard. But Cooler Master’s L-Stand is the first stand I’ve tried that isn’t open on the top.
The thin aluminum frame is handsome, but since it’s closed, you have to thread your MacBook in through the side. That’s a little more fiddly, plus it requires more clearance; I often had to move a few things on my desk to clear a path. Weirder still is the fit of the MagSafe adapter. In all the images on Cooler Master’s site, they show the L-shaped MagSafe adapter plugged into a MacBook Pro with the cable end pointing up, toward the other ports.
Well, doing that covers the adjacent port (namely, the Ethernet port on my 2010 MacBook Pro), so I need to have the MagSafe adapter’s cable pointing down toward the desk. But the L Stand doesn’t have enough clearance for that cable, and it hits the desk, bending at an awkward angle. I’m afraid that, over time, this will lead to more wear and tear.
