Credit payment service Square just launched an update to their point-of-sale app, Square Register. Now, users can operate a full service quick-serve restaurant with just an iPad and a few minimum wage employees.
Version 3.0 includes a feature that allows users to modify custom orders, create customizable kitchen tickets, and use a Bluetooth barcode scanner to speed up checkout.

customers.”
Thanks to this update, restaurants using Square Register can now customize orders so that, if a customer wants to add bacon to their hamburger, there is a sub-menu to allow the employee to select bacon from the pop up menu.
The orders can now be personalized to include a name or number that is added to the kitchen ticket.
Additionally, Square updated their app to support barcode scanning from Bluetooth-compatible scanners. Instead of selecting the item from a list, employees can simply scan the item for faster checkout.
