Last week, Australia’s International Business Times reported that Apple was working on a 12.9-inch tablet that would combine the capabilities of the Macbook Air and the MacBook Pro. Today, DigiTimes is reporting that the so called, “iPad Pro”  is being considered a “substitute of the 11-inch MacBook Air.

According to DigiTimes, Apple’s 12.9-inch tablet will launch in October 2014. Quantum Computers is expected to manufacture the display screens. DigiTimes is also reporting that the iPad Pro is expected to be considered a substitute for the 11-inch MacBook Air, therefore the processor speed and performance will be a major issue.

Additionally, Apple is rumored to be working on a larger sized screen for the iPhone, predicted to launch this coming May.

While May seems too soon for Apple to release another model of iPhone, there is no telling what the next year has in store for us. CEO Tim Cook told investors in a quarterly conference call that the company has plans to launch new products “throughout 2014.” Cook also recently sent an end-of-the-year email [via: 9to5Mac] to employees congratulating them on a successful year. In is final paragraph, Cook states “We have a lot to look forward to in 2014, including some big plans that we think customers are going to love.”

Various rumors from the past few years point to a larger iPad and iPhone, a branded television set, an updated Apple TV set-top box with an iOS operating system, and a watch.

If the company has “big plans” for 2014, there is a chance that more than one of these rumors will be proven true this year.
