The iOS App Store may be coming up on its fifth anniversary, but it shows no sign of slowing down when it comes to the discovery of new, unique apps — such as a nifty OCR app for the iPhone and an iPad app that becomes a vault of old concerts.
The folks over at Cult of Mac singled out a couple of unique new apps on Monday which might be worth a look for concert lovers and productivity (or even travel) fans alike.
First up is Concert Vault, a $3.99 per month ($39.99 annually) service offering access to “hundreds of thousands of exclusive live performances” from any web browser, iPhone and now, a free iPad app as well.
Concert Vault offers a wide range of audio-only concert recordings from a variety of musical genres, including rock, blues, jazz, country, folk and bluegrass, indie and even interviews and video, all for a low membership price. While the apps are free, you’ll need to subscribe to take full advantage of them.
Perhaps even more useful to productivity junkies and travelers alike is Pixster Scanner OCR, a new app from Quanticapps which turns an iPhone into a mobile optical character recognition (OCR) service in more than 32 languages.
Point your iPhone at any text, snap it with Pixter and in moments, you’ll have editable text that can be translated into more than 60 other languages and easily shared with others. The app is currently only 99 cents and does not require any subscription or in-app purchase to use.
