During the Geneva Motor Show, luxury car maker Ferrari unveiled its new LaFerrari hybrid. While the supercar is probably out of reach for most buyers, the Italian automaker is apparently dedicated to increasing a partnership with Apple for future vehicles. The LaFerrari includes iPad mini units in the passenger seats.
The LaFerrari’s body is made entirely of carbon fiber, and is the company’s fastest vehicle ever, reaching 62MPH in under three seconds. But according to Bloomberg, the four-seater also features in-car entertainment in the form of embedded iPad minis.
Ferrari chairman, Luca Cordero Do Montezemelo, says the automaker will reveal more concrete details about its ongoing relationship with Apple “in the next few months.” Bloomberg notes that Apple senior VP Eddy Cue joined the board of Ferrari in 2012.
Granted, no matter the nature of the relationship between Apple and Ferrari, taking part in the fruits of their labor is going to set you back some serious cash. The new LaFerrari will sell for 1 million euros. But maybe you could just cut out mounting spots in the backseat of your Dodge Stratus for less.
Plenty of car customization shops have been finding ways to integrate iOS into vehicles, like installing iPads into dashboards. General Motors recently announced plans to use Siri in its future vehicle lines.
