The fast-looking STM Impulse.
We’ve said this before, and we’ll say it again — simply because we enjoy repeating things: STM makes a {813a954d5e225a1509f22204ece89c855080ce25555f20805f61bed63cbfde3b}@$# great bag. And they’ve just unveiled a revamp of their flagship bags in the form of a new family of gear they’re calling the Velocity Collection. Which is actually pretty damn apt for this line of fast, light, grab-and-go bags.
The most lust-worthy model from the new line is the Impulse backpack. It’s a strange combination of light weight and travel-heavy features: large, heavily-padded laptop compartment that’ll fit a 15″ MBP, a suspension system with thick padding along the back, luggage passthrough and a lot of pockets.
Then there’s the Velo 2, a modest update of the excellent-yet-aesthetically-challenged Velo we reviewed (and loved) last year. Thankfully the new version is much, much prettier.
Here’re the three remaining bags, straight from the press release. The new stuff isn’t up at STM’s site yet, and you’ll have to wait till April to get one. Also, no pricing yet — but expect to bag either an Impulse or a Velo 2 for about $100:
The linear laptop shoulder bag is designed with multiple pockets to manage the necessities of a digital day. Encased in high-density padding, this bag provides soft protection for laptops and valuables, and also features a luggage pass-through for wheeled bags. The linear is available for 13” and 15” screens, as well as 10” iPads and tablets.
The maryanne is a fashionable tote created to protect and carry laptops, tablets and everyday necessities. With adjustable tote handles for shoulder or hand carry, it features a technology compartment for a laptop or a tablet in soft-lined and padded pockets. The Maryanne is designed to carry most 13” laptops.
Lastly, the blazer is a water-resistant sleeve equipped with high-density foam for protecting and carrying laptops and digital gear. Featuring pockets for valuable items, the blazer also features a quick-grab handle and removable and adjustable shoulder straps for carrying comfort.
