Newer Technology’s NuGuard KX has been drop-tested according to military specifications. There’s even a video on the company’s website of a NuGuard-clad iPhone being dropped by some sadistic-looking robot thing, and emerging unscathed. The one-piece case snaps on, and is made of “hyper-advanced X-Orbing gel.”
In plain-English, that means yeah, it’s made of some semi-rigid squishy stuff that dampens impact, protecting against bumps and drops. The wraparound design protects your screen (as long as you drop your phone on a flat surface), and the deep cutouts for ports and switches minimizes interference with normal operation. It even comes in eight snazzy two-tone colorways.
The bottom line. NuGuard offers good protection, and sleek good looks, but at nearly 50 bucks, military-grade coverage doesn’t come cheap.
