In 1999, Belgian comic artist Benoît Sokal collaborated on the creation of a point-and-click adventure game that helped put France-baced Microïds gaming company on the map. Amerzone: The Explorer’s Legacy launched in the App Store in 2012 and, although somewhat successful, did not reach its full potential with mobile gamers.
Today, the company has announced that Amerzone has been “remastered” with better graphics, more animation, and new areas to explore. Additionally, the company has launched a freemium version that will allow you to unlock the full version after a few levels of gameplay.
According to the game’s creators, Amerzone has been redesigned to give players a new experience. There are now more places to explore, including the top of the lighthouse in the first chapter, and a secret easter egg that fans of Sokal will appreciate.
The game has been remastered with more colors, textures, and scenery. Some areas have been recreated from the ground up to incorporate the graphic upgrades, plus new sounds and animations have been added to bring the player deeper into the game’s story.
In addition to completely redesigning the point-and-click adventure game, Microïds has launched a freemium version that lets gamers play the beginning of the game to try it out. If you like the game, you can unlock the full version for $2.99.
Download it in the App Store and begin your strange and wondrous adventure today.
