A new product from Woodford Design is something you need to check out this weekend because it is the first new cable design I have seen that has really impressed me and it has impressed the Kickstarter community by meeting its goal in 5 days and is nearing twice its asking amount. Why is it so special? Its simplicity and quality will impress you and everyone should support this project.
I am not associated with this product at all. I don’t know the developers and I have never talked with them. That being said, I am very impressed with its thoughtful design and wonder why more cables aren’t like it.
At last the cable that your iPhone and iPad deserve. High quality, elegant, functional and with a lifetime guarantee.
The designers at Woodford spent a lot of time looking at a lot of existing non-Apple cables and made note of everything that could use improvements and they put it all together into a new product. My favorite feature is the built in magnetic segment which allows you to attach your cable to various surfaces when not in use, which is a huge organizational benefit.
The early bird pledges are all gone, but there are still a range of pledge amounts left. The base amount is £15, which seems to be a fair price but certainly more than the early bird amounts.
Here is a list of cable features:
Crafted from silver anodised aluminum
Woven cable for strength and to reduce tangling
Built in magnetic cable tidy
Finished with laser etched mirror graphics
Compatible with all Lightning equipped 8 pin iPhones, iPads and iPods
Apple MFI Certified
1 meter / 3 feet long
Lifetime guarantee
Between the quality parts, the molded connections, and the magnetic ends, this is a solid looking cable. Perhaps it says something about me that I get so excited by this product and it’s true I will never buy a cheap cable again. Based on the reaction on Kickstarter it seems I am not alone. If the campaign continues to grow then the developers are going to add an additional charging indicator light. Space gray and gold colors have already been added at its current level of success.
