Assuming Apple is holding the rumored media event next Tuesday, Oct. 22, the media should start receiving invites today, but the rumor mill is abuzz with potential release dates for the hardware expected to be unveiled there.
MacRumors reported Tuesday that Apple is expected to announce updated MacBook Pros and iPads as well as a release date for its cylindrical Mac Pro, all expected to arrive in stores between the end of next week and the middle of November.
According to French website MacGeneration, refreshed MacBook Pro models with Intel Haswell processors are expected to go on sale within days of the rumored event next Tuesday, with Thursday, Oct. 24 or Friday, Oct. 25 pegged as the on sale date.
The fifth-generation iPad and a sequel to the iPad mini will reportedly follow a week later on Oct. 30 or 31, while the latest and greatest Mac Pro will trail the other products with an expected Nov. 15 release date.
As usual, rumored dates should be taken with a grain of salt — particularly the late October dates for the new iPads, which fall on a Wednesday and Thursday. Apple has traditionally released new iPads on Friday, so a better bet might be Friday, Nov. 1 instead.
The report notes that MacGeneration has a “mixed track record” when it comes to Apple rumors, most recently predicting that Cupertino would hold its media event today, Oct. 15, which obviously didn’t pan out.
