Space Hulk Coming to iOS in 2013

No, you’re not dreaming. No, I’m not lying. Games Workshop is collaborating with app developer Full Control to bring the Warhammer 40K-based board game to the digital arena. Scheduled to launch sometime in 2013, gamers across the world are rejoicing right now because Space Hulk is on its way.

The digital game will be made available on Mac, PC, and iOS. It will be cross-platform compatible so you can play with anyone, anywhere. The 3-D turn-based strategy game recreates the classic board game for single player, or multiplayer action.

This upcoming version is based on the “Sin of Damnation” campaign from the third-edition board game. There will be 12 single-player and cooperative mode missions. You’ll also be able to fight against your real-life friends as either a Genestealer or Space Marine in a head-to-head battle. Players will be able to design their own levels and share them online, as well.

“Since playing the board game decades ago I have always wanted to recreate this slice of Warhammer 40,000 as a computer game. Now we can finally bring the board game to life in glorious 3D full of scary Genestealers and mighty Terminators fighting for humankind,” said Thomas Hentschel Lund, CEO of Full Control. “As huge fans of the Space Hulk board game and the Warhammer 40,000 universe in general, we are delighted that Games Workshop has given us the opportunity to work with this iconic license and bring our version of Space Hulk into the hands of all fans out there”.

The game promises the following features:

Blood Angel terminator squad
Fearsome Genestealers with challenging AI
Thematic 3d environment
Single player campaign based on the “Sin of Damnation” hulk
New coop multiplayer levels against the Genestealer AI
Multiplayer head-to-head recreating the board game experience against a friend
Cross platform multiplayer between PC, Mac and iOS
Level editor with ability to share creations
Game expansions in the future as DLC

There is no information as to when the app will be available, but Full Control is hard at work recreating the popular story for digital gaming.
